Welcome to the Exmoor Smallholding Centre Website.
Riverview, home to the Exmoor Smallholding Centre is located in the Exe Valley in the fabulous Exmoor National Park. It is surrounded with wooded hills, tumbling streams and green fields. It is also situated immediately next door to the excellent Badgers Holt pub, which can come in handy at the end of a long hard day!
My holding has become a centre for training because a) I have a great deal of experience (based on mistakes as well as successes) which I believe will be of great benefit to beginners b) I greatly enjoy the company of those who are enthusiastic and excited about the prospect of completly changing their lifestyle and c) I am definitely getting too old and creaky to expand the size of my holding!
Exmoor Smallholding Centre offers some courses all year round. These include cheese making and dairying, goatkeeping, bacon, ham and sausage making and also Getting Started in Smallholding. Others are seasonal such as Growing for Survival and Profit.
I do not have a schedule of courses as each course is customised to the student needs which includes timing. I rarely take more than one or two people at a time, unless there is a group of people with common interests who want to attend together.
I encourage all interested parties to call me to discuss their needs and how the course might be constructed before they make their final decision on their course provider.
Exmoor Smallholding Centre is small but perfectly formed and offers a wide range of courses located in one of the loveliest parts of the country.
